EPSXE 2.0.5: Issues with multiplayer. 1st gamepad controls both player 1 and 2 while 2nd is either ignored or...
I have never had my own computer before and my only experience with computers is with windows os. My best friend bought me a Lenovo Thinkpad 11e Chromebook with an Intel processor(?is processor the right term?) for Christmas. It has been a crash course for into the world of pc's.
I'm running Unbuntu Xenial 16.04 via crouton and currently have two separate PSX emulators installed: ePSXe 2.0.5 and PCSXR 1.9.92
I have 2 Logic3 wired xbox 360 controllers.
I had ePSXe 2.0.5 installed and running with no issues other than I had no audio. I also had both controllers working
This was the line I used to install linux via crouton:
sudo sh ~/Downloads/crouton -t xfce
This line was taken from here:
https://github.com/dnschneid/crouton
Since then I had a massive system malfunction and I had no idea what happened or why, and my chromebook would freeze every time I entered linux via sudo startxfce4. I asked my friend to help me with it. He suggested I powerwash my chromebook so we did. I told him about my complete lack of audio in linux and he asked me a few questions and came up with this line for installing linux via crouton:
sudo sh ~/Downloads/crouton -t xfce,audio,chrome,core,extension,keyboard,x11
Since then my experiance with linux via crouton has been much better except when coming to ePSXe and multiplayer. This is where PCSXR came into play.
ePSXe runs every ISO I have but will not operate any multiplayer due to gamepad config issues. It will only recognize 1 gamepad at a time and it controls both player 1 and player 2. The only progress I have made is gamepad 1 controlling both player 1 and 2 and gamepad 2 controlling both player 1 and 2 as well, with the A/B/X/Y buttons on gamepad 2 acting like directional buttons with X being up, Y being down, A being right, and B being left, with all other buttons on gamepad 2 not working at all. I have gone to gamepad - port 1 - gamepad 1 and mapped the buttons with controller 1, then gone to gamepad - port 2 - gamepad 1 and mapped the buttons with controller 2. This doesn't work. I have tried enabling multitap on both port 1 and port 2 one at a time as well as both simultaneously. I have tried port 1 gamepad 1 and gamepad 2. I have tried every possible combination of selections with no progress.
PCSXR runs every ISO I have and allows multiplayer but freezes up and crashes every time I start a game. For clarity I am talking about after the game has been booted and when I am at the in-game menu to start a game.
I am an absolute novice when it comes to using a computer and I have been scouring the internet for answers now for several weeks without much luck.
I am going to attempt to regress to my previous crouton install line to see if that solves my gamepad configuration problem.
Wish me luck and feel free to give any relevant info anyone may have.
SOMEONE PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF GAMING, HELP ME OUT!!!
PLEASE ASSUME THAT I NEED STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS.
Thank you
Sincerely
Sean Murray
