Software Updater screws up bios boot order

0

Did a simple update using software updater - only 3 or 4 programs were listed for update. Surprised that it asked me to reboot after the update, but I followed instructions.

Next screen I saw was the "insert boot disk" (or something similar) from the bios and I was forced to boot to the bios and change the setting back to my boot disk.

Not the end of the world, but seemingly some sort of a bug.

In order to help look for a bug report, was the last update a kernel update (4.15.0-45-generic)?

There was a recent grub update also. Did it prompt you about keeping your current settings?

  • My kernel is 4.15.0-45-generic. I don't know if that was included in my last update - it did ask me to reboot if that provides any clue. I didn't get any prompt about keeping grub settings.
