Network Bridge IP Addressing

I've created a bridge on an Ubuntu 18 server with two slaved connections using nm-connection-editor and its defaults. I see on my router that the connection to the server is using a static IP, whereas the other slaved connection, which is connected to another Linux machine, is using DHCP (which is what I needed there).
Can someone knowledgeable about the bridge explain why? On the IP4 tab of the bridge I see DHCP, but I'd like to know why the network connection uses a static IP. I had some trouble with the bridge initially, but after restarting my router things are working as needed, and I'd like to know more. Thanks.
