Master of Education（M.Ed.、M.A.E.、Ed.Mともいう）とは、欧米圏で授与されている教育に関する専門職学位。
ドイツ
ドイツでの教員養成課程の学位の名称はBachelor of Education (B.Ed.)またはMaster of Education (M.Ed.) である[1]。
日本
日本には、「修士」の名称を冠した教育に関する学位として、主に次の2つがある。
- 「修士の学位」である「修士（教育学）」
- 「専門職学位」である「教職修士（専門職）」
これらは、位置づけが異なるものであるが、どちらの方がM.Ed.の学位に性質が似ているかについては、まとめるのが難しい。
日本の「教職修士（専門職）」の学位と、M.Ed.の学位を比べると、対象となる範囲が異なっている。日本の「教職修士（専門職）」の学位は、主に初等中等教育を行う学校の教員の免許状を既に有している者などを対象としていることに対し、M.Ed.の学位は、学校の教員の免許状との関連性だけに留まらずに成人教育などの領域も対象としている。日本の大学で、英会話の授業などを担当する教員には、M.Ed.やEd.D.の学位を有している者もみられる。
日本の「修士（教育学）」の学位と、M.Ed.の学位を比べると、教育課程が異なっている。日本の「修士（教育学）」の学位は、一般的に若干の授業の履修と、修士学位論文を作成することによって、授与される。日本においては、初等中等教育を行う学校の教員の専修免許状の授与を受けるための課程（教員養成を対象とする学部の課程に基礎を置く場合など）が多い一方で、学問としての教育学を重視する課程（学問としての教育学を対象とする学部の課程に基礎を置く場合など）があり、ややこしい状況となっている。
