Cannot update, install or uninstall applications Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
I cannot seem to install, update or uninstall anything on my parent's Ubuntu 18.04 computer.
I get something to the effect of :
py3compile:183: cannot create directory /usr/share/hplip/ui5/__pycache__: FileNotFoundError(2, 'No such file or directory')
Then there are a list of a bunch of missing hplip directories that are missing.
Then several more errors with python 3 related things:
dpkg: error processing package python3 (--configure): installed python3 package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 4
Not certain how to resolve this. A similar thing happened on my own computer at my house, I just backed up data and nuke & paved, but they would rather I look into fixing the issue, if possible first. Any help would be great!
