Why does the autocorrelation function of sin(x) decay?

why does the nACF function of f(x) = sin(x) decay?
When I derive an analytical expression for the decay, I get a cosine function, which does not suggest decay. However, if I generate data for the function f(x) = sin(x), and then find the nACF for this data, I observe a decay in the nACF function.
