USB Tethering Cable Unplugged Ubuntu 18.10 Android
I'm traveling and need to use my phone for Internet.
My phone is a Android Samsung Galaxy S7 edge.
It seems to not be the problem, though i am not sure.
I can activate both wireless hotspot and USB Tethering in settings, set up a network and password for wireless, etc. I also called my ISP and they confirmed that the connection should operate fine.
On my laptop, a System76 Oryx Pro 2017 model, I cannot get any connection via my phone.
I am running on a distro of Ubuntu 18.10.
When I connect to my phone via mobile hotspot, I can see the wireless network as an option and enter a password, but the connection hangs and eventually fails.
When I try via USB Tethering, I can get the Network Settings to show the USB Ethernet option, but it always says "Cable Unplugged."
I am comfortable with the terminal, I work as a junior web developer. But I am not experienced with any of the instructions I've found elsewhere for using the terminal to resolve this issue. Also, I'm on my phone, so it may be hard to transfer terminal output to the Internet. I can transfer via direct file sharing, if needed.
Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
