Hello everyone, I have a problem to see if someone can solve it for me. Today I have installed Ubuntu 18.04 LTS in my Lenovo Z500, I delete all the partitions and I do a single installation and when it has been installing for a long time I jump an error I think "GRUB" or something to it and it tells me that it can not be followed installing ubuntu and it closes What can I do? I've tried twice and nothing.

Sólo había que hacer un cambio en la BIOS de Windows 8.1 a Other OS.

You just had to make a change in the BIOS from Windows 8.1 to Other OS

Do you know if the boot method is set to "Legacy" or UEFI ?
according to https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-P-Y-and-Z-series/IdeaPad-Z500-bios-access/td-p/1176077

There are two ways to enter BIOS settings:

1- Press on FN+F2 while powering on the machine

2- while the machine is off:

press the Novo Button on your left side of the machine then
you'll find a list of options , Choose enter on Bios settings

-> Please search for "Legacy Boot"

Try enabling UEFI boot

NOTE
In installation you need a partition to install GRUB
Let's say your HD is 50GB
you decrease it to 49GB
-> select the 49GB
-> format to ext4
-> click apply
-> set / as file system
-> done

NOW
selecte the "free space" partition ( 1GB)
-> format to ext4
-> set /boot
-> Done
Click Install Now
