Error while installing GCC in Ubuntu 18.10

I have been a complete fool and uninstalled GCC from Ubuntu 18.10 installation. In the process DKMS and Nvidia driver has also been removed. After a long battle I now have a clean package system, but when I try to install gcc I get the following error:

sudo apt-get install gcc
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Suggested packages:
gcc-multilib libtool flex bison gcc-doc
The following NEW packages will be installed:
gcc
