Enabling repository for Boot-Disk-Repair without access to other Ubuntu Live disks

0

18.04 LTS on BIOS computer from 2009. I'm not sure that I can boot from a USB stick.

Total novice who has spent hours on trying to make fixes in similar questions work and has failed. I am missing (accidentally deleted) Grub2 and now need to install a repository through Boot-Repair-Disk Live's lubuntu so it can reinstall Grub. But when I use the commands that I have found here nothing works. I do not have access to a Ubuntu Live DVD; none of the flavors that I have tried will boot, and I go directly to Windows. I've tried Ubuntu 16.04 that used to work, Kubuntu 16.04, and a newly burned DVD of 18.04. The only access to Ubuntu or Linux that I have is through the Boot-Repair-Disk, and it is Lubuntu 14.04.

I am having the same problem referred to in this question--Boot repair enable a repository containing grub2 packages
and in this question:Boot-repair is asking for repositories

None of the answers gave directions on how to let Boot-Repair-Disk find and use a repository, so in the Boot-Repair-Disk I tried the terminal commands that the original poster said worked for him. However, when I get to installing Grub2, the terminal says:

Command 'grub-install' not found, but can be installed with:
apt > install grub2-common (You will have to enable component called 'main'.
apt install lupin-support (You will have to enable component called 'main'.

So how do I enable a component called "main"? Does this mean the main repository? And if it does, what directory should I be in to do this? The home directory on Boot-Repair-Disk is lubuntu@lubuntu.

This is my original message from Boot Repair:

Please enable a repository containing the [grub2] packages in the
software sources of Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS (sdb6). Then try again.

Given that the Boot-Repair Disk is my terminal is my only hope, please help with the correct commands. I need to know where to begin and how to proceed as a terminal novice.

I've been working on this for five days--searching askubuntu and trying fixes, and nothing has worked in Boot-Repair-Disk's version of lubuntu.

Boot-Repair-Disk generated a list of sources in a Firefox Window. I have no idea what to do with it, but I tried a command from an earlier question here that did not work.

Here is the Boot Repair Disk URL for the info on my problem:
http://paste.ubuntu.com/p/7BPFmtP9x5/
However, I'm not sure whether this was generated before or after I accidentally deleted Grub2.
