Ubuntu 18.04 Wifi network (internet) connection breaks up every time the computer wakes up from the sleep...

Ubuntu 18.04.01 is losing the Wifi internet connection every single time it wakes up from sleeping / suspend mode. The PC is a notebook Acer Aspire V3 772G. It never happened with older Ubuntu versions and it still never happens with Windows 10, which is installed as dual boot. The router is a Vodafone DSL-EasyBox. It is not clear to me if the problem began after an update or after I started using this router, 4 months ago.
What I've tried so far
I tried this solution manually: Wifi doesn't work after suspend after 16.04 upgrade, also presented in https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2355314 which suggests running the command
sudo systemctl restart network-manager.service
It randomly works after about 2 to 8 times running this command or it doesn't. In the negative case, I have to reboot the OS and eventually reset the router, what is not always possible to do when living in a shared apartment and is anyways really annoying.
Tried to check entering ip link
, lshw -class network
and /sbin/ifconfig
whether the network device and the router are being seen from the PC and yes, they are. /usr/sbin/arp -an
also returns me the correct IP address and ethernet configured for network using.
What I tested and found out
Whenever the internet is not working:
- It is not possible to ping any website, as well
- I can't access the router through its IP-address from the browser, the browser keeps loading it endlessly
- The network device and router are seen by the PC as described above.
