Ubuntu 16.04 - cannot connect to WiFi

0

After a week of unsuccessful attempts I need your help:
I have ubuntu 16.04 and try to connect to the wifi. I find the Network connections and entered the username and password for the wifi, got them saved. However, from here on there is neither option "Connect", nor I see any wifi networks available. What should I do to connect?

Does your WiFi interface card enabled? For notebooks it may be separate button with appropriate icon on it. Can you connect to wifi at the same place using your mobile phone?

  • Thanks for your answer! Yes, the wifi card is enabled - I have another laptop connected to the wifi. But it's my first time dealing with ubuntu and I cannot find a wifi menu from where to turn on the laptop wifi.

  • For select wifi access point, enable or disable wifi connection use menu at top right corner. The other way is to navigate to settings (the gear icon) and select "Network". There you should see "Wired" and "Wireless" settings.

  • Yes, I went to the Network and saw these options, chose the WiFi one. Set the username and password but it did not offer me to connect to the internet (there was no place where to click on "connect" or similar). So now I have my wifi network saved in the laptop but still cannot connect to the internet.
