Nvidia GTX 1070 proprietary drivers(390) cause boot hang

0

I recently purchased an Nvidia GTX1070 and have so far been unable to run the proprietary drivers. Just for the sake of thouroghness, I decided to try a completely fresh install of Ubuntu. The first thing I did was install the proprietary driver 390 from the additional drivers menu and restart.

On restart the system hangs at the point in the attachment
