External NTFS HDD mounted as type fuseblk instead of ufsd in Linux with kernel 4.15

0

I have a Kubuntu 18.04 with the latest kernel version 4.15. I wanted to have better NTFS support than what an ntfs-3g is capable of. Now, I am aware of this question but I wanted to try something else, mainly a free version of Microsoft NTFS for Linux by Paragon Software mentioned in the aforementioned question.

I found this repository which aims to support kernels 4.13 and newer since the Paragon's driver supports kernels up to 4.12.x. I did everything that the author of the repository wrote in the short manual, that is

./apply-patches
cd sources
./configure
make driver
sudo make driver_install

and the installation succeeded, but my external Seagate HDD still mounts with ntfs-3g

$ mount | grep sdc
/dev/sdc1 on /media/colonder/Seagate type fuseblk (rw,nosuid,nodev,relatime,user_id=0,group_id=0,default_permissions,allow_other,blksize=4096,uhelper=udisks2)

even after reboot. Usually, I mount the drive by clicking on the proper action in the notifications window that pops up after I connect it to my laptop (the tray icon with a little USB). Is there any peculiar way I have to activate the Paragon's driver?
