NetworkManager dispatcher.d script failing
My sshd settings all work fine, except annoyingly I must run sudo service sshd restart
once after startup for my server to be running. I guess it fails because the sshd daemon attempts to bind before the router has finished assigned the requested static ip to my machine?
Either way, because I want my local machines to be able to ssh into each other without the need for me to restart the servers with this command each reboot, what are my options?
Naturally my first thought was to place a script somewhere where it's run when the interface comes up. So since I'm using Ubuntu 18.04 I tried placing it inside /etc/NetworkManager/dispatcher.d
. The script is run (4 times as it happens) upon reboot - I am not concerned about multiple runs in this case. Here is the script:
#!/bin/bash
echo "script run" >> /home/user/nm_script_out.txt
service sshd restart
The text file receives output, which confirms the script is running. But my sshd daemon still isn't running after start-up, with the usual 'Cannot bind to address' error. I must manually type sudo service sshd restart
to get it to run the server. Any bright ideas?
