download 18.04 drive now locked by unknown password

I downloaded 18.04 on my solid state hard drive with 17.10 on it. The hard drive was working fine not requiring a password to open the drive. after downloading 18.04 my hard drive now opens with user name and password required, I have replaced the drive with another drive with 16.04 on it would like to use locked out drive. How????
